Each content area describes the knowledge and skills practitioners need in order to work with children birth through age eight and their families. Early childhood educators and care providers can select courses from the following categories that will help them achieve knowledge and competencies in all areas of practice in early childhood education and care. Eager-to-Learn Course Listings by CDA Content Areas Eager-to-Learn offers a comprehensive base of knowledge and skills that will help child care providers and other early childhood professionals meet their 120 hour CDA training requirement. All Eager-to-Learn courses have been designated into each of the eight CDA content areas. Providers may follow the Eager-to-Learn cohort program or choose from the courses listed to build their own CDA plan. Eager-to-Learn Course Listings For Directors Our lively interactive learning community has issued an open invitation to directors interested in expanding their knowledge base and finding a community of colleagues, all without leaving the comfort of the office. Directors finish their coursework with a management training plan, budget plan, or new leadership resources under their belts. These excellent, targeted, professional development opportunities are designed to be completed over the lunch hour, center nap time or afternoon down time. Each class is tailored to the specific scheduling and learning needs of the participating center and staff. Eager-to-Learn Course Listings for School Age Care School-Age courses at Eager to Learn focus on the unique needs of all providers in the field of school-age care. They vary from foundational courses on school-age basics, school-age activities and in depth learning experiences that are important to those caring for this very unique age group. The school-age courses are relevant to providers in school based programs, centers and family child care. The core belief of the courses is to assist providers in providing quality care for children in out of school time care. All school-age courses delivered through the Eager-to-Learn online program, are taught by certified MNSACA instructors. The Seeds of literacy are planted before children enter school. Important literacy skills do not develop spontaneously, instruction shapes them" -Snow Burns and Griffin, 1998 SEEDS© is an interactive, skills based curriculum. It is based on current research in early childhood education. It teaches the literacy skills and social emotional skills children need in order to be school ready through balanced intentional interactions. Teachers are given knowledge and models of best practices and then given the opportunity to practice, observe and receive feedback during each of the six online courses. Courses can be taken individually or, for optimal learning, all six sessions can be taken in succession. All SEEDS courses delivered through the Eager-to-Learn online program, are taught by certified SEEDS instructors Not By Chance: Child Care that Supports School Readiness Not by Chance: Child Care that Supports School Readiness is a training curriculum designed to provide concrete information on Minnesota’s endorsed quality support tools. Building on the existing excellence of Minnesota child care providers, the Not by Chance trainings provide information and resources to measure this excellence and take it to the next level. This learning system, offered by Child Care Resource & Referral, is structured in three levels: Foundations of Quality, Tools to Create Quality and Quality in Practice. Each of these trainings builds upon the others to offer a sequence of learning. This sequence will help you master the knowledge and skills needed to provide quality care and education for every child. Not By Chance training sets out to prepare the field for the changing face of child care and a new era in which every provider is viewed and valued as an early educator. All Not By Chance courses delivered through the Eager-to-Learn online program, are taught by certified Not by Chance instructors Eager-to-Learn Course Listings for Project EXCEPTIONAL Project EXCEPTIONAL courses provide ideas and materials in workshops that are designed for individuals who are interested in expanding their knowledge about inclusion in early childhood and school-age settings. The courses are based on a philosophy that all children have a right to grow up, play and live in their own communities. Project EXCEPTIONAL is a program of the Center for Inclusive Child Care which is a comprehensive resource network for promoting and supporting inclusive early childhood and school-age programs and providers. All Project EXCEPTIONAL Courses delivered through the Eager-to-Learn online program, are taught by certified Project EXCEPTIONAL instructors. Eager-to-Learn Course Listings for The Program for Infant Toddler Care The Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC), a collaboration between WestEd and the California Department of Education, seeks to ensure that America's infants get a safe, healthy, emotionally secure and intellectually rich start in life. This relationship-based curriculum is designed to help caregivers recognize the crucial importance of giving tender, loving care and assisting in the infants' intellectual development through an attentive reading of each child's cues.
